Recently one of our drivers went on a weekend tour with a band competing in a national competition and received such high praise we felt it warranted being placed on our website.
The Corps Director, Stuart Barker, expressed:
“The Pacemakers Drum & Bugle Corps is made up from members of the 13th Bromley Boys Brigade & 1 St Mary Cray Girls Brigade. Over the weekend 3rd – 5th June we embarked on our Midlands Tour, setting out from our base at the Temple in St Mary Cray on Friday with our driver Terry from The Kings Ferry. After a long afternoon practice the band enjoyed an evening out at Waterworld. Saturday was our first competitive competition of the season, The Boys & Girls Brigade National Championships. The Corps competed in two competitions, both indoors and out and were positioned first in both, becoming National Champions. This was topped off by scoring the highest mark of the Day. Sunday saw us compete in The British Youth Band Association (BYBA), playing in Division 2. An even better performance than Saturday saw us placed 2nd a great result but still giving us something to work on in the coming weeks.
The weekend carried a very tight itinerary and our Kings Ferry driver, Terry made sure we stuck to it. His help and support throughout the weekend enabled things to run smoothly, without hitch. His encouragement to the young people involved was something we had never experienced from a driver before. The Corps look forward to their continued association with The Kings Ferry Travel Group as they make their final preparations to play for H.R.H. The Duchess of Gloucester GCVO at The Boys' Brigade in London's Annual Beating Retreat Ceremony at the Royal Hospital, Chelsea on the 16th July 2005.”
