Question and answer
Q. “How can I save money on my travel?”
A. . As you may know, we offer a range of ticket options:
- single
- day return
- 5-day return
- 10 singles
- 4-weekly
- 40 singles
- annual
The more regularly you travel the cheaper the fare. Buy an annual season ticket and you can save £££s! Despite that, we’ve noticed that a number of passengers still buy single tickets. We realise that an annual ticket may not be suitable for everybody’s work pattern, but it may be worth noting that a book of 10 single tickets works out cheaper than 10 separate singles, and a book of 40 singles works out cheaper than a book of 10 etc etc.
Q. How can I pay for my ticket?
A. There are three payment options with a fourth on the way.
- On the coach by cash or cheque* (on the day of travel).
- Over the phone by cheque* or credit card (in advance).
- In the office by cash, cheque* or credit card (in advance).
- Coming soon… we are developing an online ticketing system so you can buy online via your PC at home or at work.
*Please note the value of each cheque can’t exceed the value of your guarantee card.
Q. How do you calculate the cost of a season ticket?
A. The cost is based on 40 weeks of travel per year. The other 12 weeks are included at no extra charge as a reward for paying annually and to cover short-term sickness, holiday etc.
Q. How do I cancel my season ticket?
A. If you need to cancel, you should immediately bring the ticket to our office or post it to us. We will issue a refund from the date we receive the ticket or from the postmark on the envelope.
Q. How do you calculate refunds?
A. The refund is based on the cost of the ticket less the cost of four-week, five-day and day-return tickets that would have been necessary for travel up to the date of cancellation. If it’s more than 40 weeks into an annual season ticket, no refund is payable.
Q. What if I cancel a ticket paid for by my employer?
A. If you took out a loan from your employer to pay for your ticket, it is likely your repayments are spread across 12 equal monthly instalments. In that case, you will find you owe your employer more than the refund value. We therefore suggest you arrange to repay any season ticket loan over 9 months instead of 12, if possible. If your employer paid using a company cheque, we will issue the refund to the company unless they authorise us in writing to make the refund payable to the ticket-holder.
Q. What if I’m ill and can’t travel?
A. If you’re off sick for more than one week, you should arrange for your ticket to be deposited at our offices, and provide a doctor’s certificate or hospital letter to cover the period we hold the ticket. Before you return to work, you should provide us with an extra photo so we can issue you with a new ticket, extended to make up for the travelling days you missed while we held your ticket.
