Introduction to your commuter timetable for the 2012 games period.

We are pleased to introduce to you our revised timetable for the 2012 games period. This timetable has been designed following consultation with our customers as well as TFL and the Olympic authorities to gain an understanding of your travel patterns during this period as well as the road network changes and likely traffic implications. Our aim throughout this process has been to ensure that your travel needs are met by ensuring that we can continue to provide you with an effective network of services.

We will provide both Central London and Canary Wharf with dedicated services both AM and PM ensuring that we can minimise the traffic impact for both areas. All of our routes have been scheduled to interchange at our local park and rides sites, proving easy access to the coach servicing your particular route.

Without doubt it is the London end of our network that will be most effected during this period, this also being the area where traffic and road networks will be most unpredictable. In order to alleviate this wherever we can, we have devised a service that provides you the most comprehensive number of services for getting out of London in the evenings. By combining our Kings Ferry and Travel Link services we will be providing homeward services to all areas leaving approximately every 10 minutes from Central London and every 20 minutes from Canary Wharf. This will allow you to just hop on the next coach through, getting your homeward journey started as quickly as possible.

Whilst we appreciate that changing coaches may not be ideal, it allows us to provide the maximum number of services to get you out of London, minimising waiting times at the point where you need most flexibility and we face the most uncertainty with traffic flows.

Commuter Olympic Timetable FAQ’s

Q. Why are the commuter services changing during the Olympic Games?

We have gained an understanding of the road network changes and the likely traffic implications during the Games period from discussions with TFL and the Olympic authorities.

Without doubt it is the London end of our network that will be most effected during this period, this also being the area where traffic and road networks will be most unpredictable. London will experience significant traffic disruption during the Games and in the days leading up to the events.

The ORN (Olympic Route Network) & PRN (Paralympic Road Network) are designated sections of carriageway which have restrictions applied to them. The main restriction will prevent vehicles stopping, joining or exiting the carriageway in an attempt to keep the flow moving. As our commuter routes run directly along or through the effected areas, we are unable to serve a number of our normal stops. Anyone can use the ORN, but certain sections have lanes reserved for the use of official Olympic Traffic only.

We have planned for the worst and hope for the best. We recognise that this event remains extremely unpredictable and we need to ensure service delivery in the worst case scenarios. In the happy event that traffic conditions are not as bad as feared, we can quickly roll back to near normal services with which we are all familiar. In this event we will of course provide adequate notice and information to you all.

Q. When will the Olympics timetable start and finish?

Our games period timetable will commence on the 23 of July and will operate through the main Olympic event. We will monitor the effect areas and traffic flow thereafter.

Q. How will the interchanges work in the morning?

There will be no change to your AM pick up location or time. Upon arrival at our local park and rides sites customers can select to travel on coaches designated as either Central London or Canary Wharf services.

Services will interchange as follows:

  • 716, 717 and 719 services interchange at Blue Bell Hill or Bean park and ride.
  • 715, 720 and 721 services interchange at Wigmore or Bean park and ride.
  • 722 service interchange at Bean only.
  • 750 and 751 services interchange at Medway Services or Bean park and ride.

Q. How accurate are the timings in the timetable?

Our timetable for the Games period has been planned with a great deal of consultation with all parties involved. We have gained an understanding of the road network changes and the likely traffic implications during the period through constant discussion with TFL and the Olympic authorities.

Our aim through all of this is to ensure that we can continue to provide an effective network of services to ensure your travel needs are achieved. Without doubt it is the London end of our network that will be most effected during this period, this also being the area where traffic and road networks will be most unpredictable.

By combining our Kings Ferry and Travel Link services we will now be providing homeward services to all areas leaving approximately every 10 minutes from Central London and every 20 minutes from Canary Wharf.
