Delays at Olympic hub train station
Rail passengers heading for a key Olympic travel hub faced frustrating hold-ups on Wednesday.
"Operating problems", thought to have been caused by a signal problem, left travellers stuck outside London Bridge for about half-an-hour and caused delays to services run in and out of the station by the Southern train company during the morning rush-hour, leaving some wishing they had thought about coach travel instead.
As well as dealing with the usual commuters to the capital London Bridge is a major Olympic hub station, a departure point for those leaving to travel to various events during London 2012.
Meanwhile, services run by Southeastern were hit by a signalling problem which resulted in fewer trains leaving and arriving at the Cannon Street terminus.
Tube travellers also experienced problems, a signal failure at Turnham Green in west London resulting in a loss of District line services between Earls Court and Richmond/Ealing Broadway.
