Boris blasts London rail network
The mayor of London has branded the city's rail network "totally inefficient".
Boris Johnson told ministers that the current system, managed by the Government and Transport for London, was in need of radical change.
He urged the Government to allow him to work on bringing the suburban services under the TfL umbrella via franchising.
Johnson claimed the changes could save millions of pounds.
He said: "The fractured organisation of London's suburban railways is totally inefficient and needs a complete overhaul.
"My vision is for one integrated suburban service operating to the standards we have demonstrated can be achieved on London Overground."
