Rail signalling workers strike
Further strikes by rail workers have taken place over disputes surrounding career progression within the industry.
Signalling workers walked out for 24 hours on Tuesday after Rail Maritime and Transport (RMT) union members said Network Rail was not complying with rules around promoting senior staff when a post becomes vacant.
Members walked out of their RMT union office in the West of Scotland at 5.59am until 5.58am on Wednesday, February 15. This was their third strike in less than three months.
Bob Crow, general secretary of the union, said: "RMT has tried to reach a negotiated settlement to this unilateral ripping-up of a local arrangement but unfortunately the management have refused to see sense and have failed to engage with us seriously since the strike action over Christmas."
Another day of strike action is scheduled to take place on March 2.
The RMT added that the plans have been put in place due to "a total failure by the management to make any progress in respect of settling the dispute over career progression."
