Swansea train causes 'hectic' delays
Passengers using the rail link between Swansea and London suffered major disruptions to their journey after a train was stuck for almost three hours on Wednesday.
Services on the line were running as normal until a train hit a metal sheet in the Severn Tunnel while it was heading towards Swansea. It stayed stuck there for two and a half hours.
First Great Western said the tunnel had to be closed which caused other services to be cancelled or redirected to a different route.
Jean Rees, 72, was with her family on the 8.30am Llanelli train to London when she encountered the delays.
She said: "When we reached the outside of the tunnel the train stopped for half an hour. We were then directed to Gloucester. The train was terrible and was very hectic."
Mrs Rees, from Loughor, added that they still had problems travelling home later in the day from Paddington station.
"We were like sheep all getting on the train and it was all standing. A gentleman was very kind and gave me his seat. Everyone was standing for a long way, until after Reading," she said.
