Faulty train delays travellers
A broken-down train caused a headache for many commuters travelling into Leeds on Friday, it has emerged.
The incident at Shipley saw trains cancelled from Ilkley, Keighley and Bradford as passengers endured interruptions of up to 50 minutes amid the morning rush hour.
The breakdown affected services passing through and bypassing the town, Network Rail said.
There was also further chaos for travellers in the north of England, with signalling problems causing delays between Halifax and Manchester. Services between Hebden Bridge and Todmorden were also running late.
The problems affecting Leeds and neighbouring towns on Friday morning came despite train companies increasing fares at the beginning of the year.
