The Kings Ferry transported 3,000 journalists to the London Summit 2009

The Kings Ferry coach hire company provided carbon neutral coach transport for more than 3,000 international journalists attending the G20 London Summit 2009 on 2 April.

The award-winning UK coach hire company employed 24 coaches and 2 cars (for disabled passengers) continuously for more than 32 hours, collecting journalists from dedicated points and transporting them to the official accreditation centre. Once accredited, journalists were taken on a ‘clean’ coach service complete with an onboard security guard, right inside Excel London where the Summit took place.

The Kings Ferry was contracted by WRG to provide the press coach transport on behalf of the Foreign & Commonwealth Office. Environmental concerns will no doubt be on the agenda of the Summit, so it is no surprise that one of the key criteria when appointing a supplier was that all vehicles had to be Euro 3 or 4 compliant. The Kings Ferry offered this and more; as the first international coach operator to become carbon neutral it ensured that all the transport is zero rated.

"We were privileged to provide transport for the world’s journalists attending the London Summit 2009 and took every effort to provide a punctual service that complied with all security regulations," said operations director for The Kings Ferry, Ian Fraser.

World leaders from the G20 countries – representing 80% of world trade and two thirds of the world’s population – took part in the London Summit 2009, which followed the Washington Summit in November 2008.
