Coach Hire Connections makes waves through the capital
Coach Hire Connections provided an all-in-one solution for The Co–operative earlier this month, when it supplied a bespoke booking tool for the management of coach and train bookings to The Wave protest in London.
The Co–operative got in touch with the UK's leading coach travel management company back in the summer requesting a comprehensive solution to enable supporters to travel to London and take part in the climate change march on Saturday 5th December. To fulfil The Co-operative's needs, Coach Hire Connections developed its existing online self booking tool. A link to the booking system was hosted on The Co-operative's website and also on Oxfam's too. All data logged was sent to Coach Hire Connections' back office where the information was processed. Members from both organisations were able to book coaches and trains to the protest in advance from September onwards.
"The Co–operative approached us to see if we would provide a quick and efficient service for this important event and we were delighted to work with The Co-operative and provide a bespoke booking solution to fulfil their needs," said Danny Elford, commercial director at Coach Hire Connections.
Coach Hire Connections managed the bookings for both coaches and trains for the event from all over the UK including: Bristol; Southampton; East Anglia; Exeter; Cardiff and Penzance. Coaches were sourced from Coach Hire Connections' bank of trusted and accredited suppliers.
"We organised 50 vehicles and managed the bookings for the trains to transport a total of 1,900 people," said Danny. "All drivers were fully briefed on where they had to pick up and drop off supporters. The day ran very smoothly and I am pleased that we were able to fulfil The Co–operative's coach hire needs."
"The day was a great success for us and I had loads of comments from people saying how pleased they were with the organisation. We were really happy," said Chris Shearlock, sustainable development manager at The Co-operative.
The Wave was an organised march against climate change in which 50,000 people attended. For further information on the event please visit: http://www.co-operative.coop/ethicsinaction/takeaction/thewave/
