Coach Hire Connections comes to the rescue – again!
Coach Hire Connections has repatriated more than 5,000 stranded passengers on behalf of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) as the airline, Globespan, suddenly went into liquidation.
Thousands of passengers face spending Christmas away from home as the news of the airline's collapse broke last Wednesday. As a trusted and preferred coach hire supplier for the CAA, Coach Hire Connections immediately began sourcing coach transport for passengers who could get flights back to the UK, but needed transport back to their airport of departure.
"Having dealt with the CAA when XL Airways collapsed last year, we were well prepared and equipped to deal with this situation," said Ian Fraser, operations director at Coach Hire Connections. "People need to get back home to their loved ones over the festive period and we are doing our utmost to get them home. We have supplied coaches, cars and people carriers to meet this operation's need. Coaches began transporting passengers last Thursday morning and we are expecting to continue doing so until the beginning on January, due to the sheer number of stranded passengers.
Coach Hire Connections outsourced coaches form its bank of accredited coach operators, along with using a number of coaches from The Kings Ferry.
The bad weather conditions haven't helped the situation, but we managing to carry on," said Ian. "We made sure each coach was as comfortable as possible for the passengers, with two seats allocated per person and food and drink on board."
Coach Hire Connections transported passengers back to various airports including: Manchester; Gatwick; Leeds Bradford; Newcastle; Birmingham; Edinburgh and Glasgow.
