Kings Ferry's unsung hero is over the moon
Long-standing Kings Ferry coach driver Dave Taylor was presented with the Unsung Hero Award for his outstanding service to Gillingham Football Club at the Kent Regional News & Media Sports Awards last week. Held at the Ramada Hotel, Dover, the event showcased the very best in Kentish sporting talent – but also celebrated those that work behind the scenes.

Dave plays a vital part at The Kings Ferry and is head of corporate services, managing all VIP coach hire for a range of high-profile clients including football clubs, celebrities and the Orient Express. Dave was totally surprised when he found out he'd won the award for his outstanding service as The Gills' driver … and unofficial confidante!
"I'm bowled over by the number of people who voted for me," said Dave. "I usually like to keep in the background, so this was really unexpected."
Dave, who has driven the Gillingham team since the 1980s, knows the club inside out – and is the keeper of many tour bus secrets. "But don't ask me to spill the beans because I won't," he was quick to point out. Dave drives for the Gills as an additional duty, showing his passion for driving and, of course, Gillingham Football Club.
Dave's colleagues at The Kings Ferry think that the Unsung Hero Award is well deserved. "We're really happy that Dave's hard work has been recognised," said commercial director, Danny Elford. "Dave's a great guy and if anyone deserves this award, he does."
As for Dave – well naturally he's over the moon!
