Disaster Recovery

In September 2008 The Kings Ferry helped repatriate thousands of stranded holiday makers when XL Airways went into liquidation. Due to the unexpected collapse of the airline, the Civil Aviation Authority was tasked with repatriating thousands of passengers back to the UK. Unfortunately the scale of the disaster meant that many passengers were not transferred to their airport of origin, so The Kings Ferry was called into help.

Over a two week period, The Kings Ferry helped transfer 12,000 passengers back to their airports of origin. The organisation that went into this operation was on an immense scale; as the collapse of XL Airways was so sudden we were given such short notice form the CAA, but managed to successfully transport the stranded passengers.

Coach hire played a massive part in this operation and as the CAA chose an operator used to dealing with requests on a large scale. The Kings Ferry coach hire executed the operation with organisation and precision and did not fail to deliver.
