A British summer is famously unreliable, and planning an event around it can be a very risky experience. On the one hand, when the sun shines, it's absolutely wonderful. On the other, you might be treated to an unforecasted rain shower. Frankly, providing an accurate weather forecast in this country would probably require magical powers of some sort.
Having said that, though, England - and London in particular - does have some absolutely stunning outdoor spaces that might be perfect for your event, particularly if luck (and the sun) decides to shine on your special day. You might find it's entirely worth the risk and an utterly magical experience. Here are our top three venues around London if you're planning to take things outside.
Number one is the Royal Botanic Gardens of Kew, more often referred to as Kew Gardens. These beautifully maintained grounds are extensive, with emerald green trees complemented perfectly by vibrant flower beds. If there's one word we would use to describe this place, it's 'colourful'. Petals of indigo, scarlet and buttercup yellow provide a perfect backdrop no matter what your event is. In particular, the Princess of Wales Conservatory is absolutely gorgeous, particularly when it's illuminated at night. Kew Gardens offers an extensive range of fantastic venues, however, so be sure to have a good look through before booking.
The Roof Gardens
Spectacular, sophisticated and unashamedly awesome, The Roof Gardens promises an event like no other. Gorgeous surroundings including well-tended gardens both inside the eating space and out on the roof promise to complement any event, from weddings to bar mitzvahs and business meetings to training days. However, you'll have to abide by a tight schedule - good luck to you if you want to have your event on a Friday or Saturday evening - although there is flexibility in the numbers you can invite. A talented events team is capable of planning the perfect evening with you for as few as 50 people or as many as 500. This is an experience that won't leave you wanting more.
Further out from the centre of London - about an hour's drive west of the centre - you'll find EJ Churchill. This is the place to come to if you're looking for something more than just light drinks and entertainment. EJ Churchill is an award winning clay pigeon shooting ground. Whether you're looking to make your wedding go with a bang - excuse the pun - or get colleagues working in a team, this is a great venue. Not least because of its surroundings. Set among 40 acres of woodland and fields on the West Wycombe Estate, you'll feel a million miles away from the pollution of London.
