Arsenal and Chelsea face off in the Community Shield

The Community Shield will see last season’s Premier League champions Chelsea take on FA Cup winners Arsenal in a prelude to the 2017/18 season on August 7th at Wembley Stadium.

While the wait for football has been a long and agonising one for fans, plenty of activity has happened over the pre-season, with Arsenal and Chelsea at the forefront.

The Gunners have signed striker Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon for a fee over £50 million, signalling their intentions to take a step up this year and push for an elusive Premier League title.

Arsene Wenger has also managed to keep hold of Alexis Sanchez so far. Plenty of teams have registered interest, but no one has been able to agree on a fee for the Chilean.

Of course, things could change before the transfer window shuts and the future of playmaker Mesut Ozil still remains uncertain, yet Arsenal fans look to be approaching the season with plenty of enthusiasm.

Arsenal’s opponents Chelsea have strengthened their attack by signing Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata for a whopping club-record £70 million.

However, whether the Spain International will have Diego Costa as his partner up front is another question entirely. Despite finishing as the team’s top scorer in 2016/17, his future is unclear after an alleged fallout with manager Antonio Conte.

With stars such as Eden Hazard and N’Golo Kante looking set to continue last season’s form, it will be interesting to see how Morata settles into a winning system.

While both teams may consider resting key players during the Community Shield, it will be interesting to see how they look going into the season. It could offer fantastic insight at the strength-in-depth of two of the top title contenders.

What is the best way to reach London?

Wembley Stadium is one of the most revered sporting venues in the world and there are plenty of transport options for ticket holders.

While there are train services available from all over the country, these are often affected by delays and cancellations. Costs can also be excessively high if they are not booked far enough in advance and carriages can be extremely congested.

On the other hand, coach services provide great value transport, guaranteed seats and plenty of luggage space. There are plenty of choices when it comes to departure times, so you can plan a trip for a day, weekend or even longer.
