Enjoy London's feast of fantastic food festivals

British cuisine was something of laughing stock just a few years ago, lacking the creativity, flair and delicious flavour combinations of its Spanish or Italian counterparts.

In 2014, however, the UK is one of the world's premier food destinations with London at the heart of it all. Not only has British cuisine evolved into some of the most stunning fare to be found anywhere in the world, the UK has become a hub for restaurants from all four corners of the globe, from Peru to the Philippines.

Chefs such as Gordon Ramsay, Michel Roux Junior, Marcus Wareing and Yotam Ottalenghi have helped make the UK and London in particular a foodie destination in addition to its many other draws.

It is no surprise to learn then that the capital is also home to some of the most exciting and innovative food and drink festivals.

One such event is the Kopparberg Urban Forest running in Dalston from July 2nd to August 3rd. Prepare for delicious street food from purveyors from across London. As well as tasty bites there is also be a wide selection of ciders and cocktails.

Companies serving food include Buffalo Joe's - who cook delicious Philly cheesesteaks - and Fika, which is a Swedish outfit serving classics from the Scandinavian country, including gravadlax and meatballs.

If it is the UK's leading culinary wizards that you want to see in action then the Feast festival in Battersea Park is where you need to be. Each year, this event brings some of the country's most talented chefs together to demonstrate dishes to food lovers and discuss all things edible.

Thousands of people from far and wide are expected to descend on the event, which will also include a new Feasting Tent, Vintage Tea tent, a Vintage Kitchen market and a Real Ale and Cider Farm among other highlights.

There will also be a children's cookery theatre, meaning that mum, dad and the kids can enjoy a fabulous day out together.

For those whose passion is beer rather than food, Bethnal Green is the place to be in mid-August when the London Craft Beer Festival celebrates all things to do with one of the UK's favourite tipples.

More than 24 breweries will be involved and as well as beer, there will be plenty of food on offer for when you get peckish. In addition, there will be live music throughout the event to make it even more entertaining.

A little later in the year is one of the capital's most celebrated food events. The London Restaurant Festival features everything from street food stalls to some of the finest Michelin star restaurants in the world, meaning there is something to suit everyone's tastes.

The festival is designed to raise the profile of the eateries taking part by providing a platform for them to serve their delicious offerings to the public.

As well as the aforementioned festivals, there are a number of other smaller food events taking place in all four corners of the capital, so whatever tickles your fancy, you are sure to find something to tickle your fancy.
