Have fun in London's West End this summer

If you're looking to enjoy a great night out in London then pretty high up on your list of must-do activities ought to be a trip to the West End, which is home to an incredible number of great theatre shows as well as loads of top bars and restaurants.

But with so many great shows to choose from, you may experience some difficulty in determining which of the productions is most suited to your taste. For that reason, we're going to take a look at some of the best shows that are currently being held in London - and, hopefully, help you to make up your mind.

The Book of Mormon

Created by the makers of popular US sitcom South Park, the Book of Mormon has become a hugely popular production on both sides of the Atlantic.

Indeed, despite the vulgar nature of some of the show's material, it has garnered huge critical acclaim, while the public has also taken to the show in spectacular fashion.

It tells the story of two missionary workers who travel to a remote village in Africa in order to teach the Book of Mormon.

When they arrive, however, they find that the local population is much more concerned with day-to-day issues, such as famine and Aids.

The show first opened on Broadway in 2011, but has since gone on to be a huge hit on the stage in London.

The Lion King

This particular musical is, of course, based on the 1994 hit Disney movie of the same name and if you were a fan of the film, then you will almost certainly be keen on this production, as there are loads of similarities.

For instance, many of the songs from the original film feature in the show, which means you can nod along to the tune or even sing yourself.

The show debuted in London 15 years ago and despite running for such a lengthy period of time, it has lost none of its popularity.

If you're travelling to the capital with young children, then this is a great option as they are certain to be enchanted by the impressive-looking costumes and catchy tunes.

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels

Starring national treasure Robert Lindsay and Rufus Hound, this is a delightful production that is sure to make you smile and laugh in equal measure.

The show itself tells the story of two hustlers who try to make their fortune on the French Riviera, exploiting the wealthy people who live in this part of the world.

There are, of course, loads of catchy tunes - and you really will struggle to contain your laughter.

And once you've finished having fun in the West End, why not take advantage of the many great bars and restaurants that are found in the area? Enjoying some tasty food would seem like the best way to round-off and there are plenty of top options to choose from in this part of the city, so don't pass up the opportunity.
