Have fun in the sun in London

It may only be April but let’s face it, we all have one eye on summer 2014 already, with Brits planning for their holidays and events during what we all hope with be month after month of glorious sunshine.

Last year, of course, the UK was blessed with beautiful weather during July and August, when temperatures soared to record levels. And experts have already suggested that we can expect something similar in the coming months, which is music to the ears of anyone who is planning to visit London over that period.

But what if you’re among this demographic, yet are unsure of what you want to do during your time in the city? Well, you needn’t fret as there are loads of top events being staged in London in the coming weeks, and here is a guide to some of the best of these…

The world’s biggest and most famous tennis tournament, Wimbledon is one event that avid sport fans cannot pass up the opportunity to enjoy in person. And this year’s edition is given extra spice by virtue of the fact that Britain’s Andy Murray is the defending champion and will be among the favourites for the trophy once again.

He will, however, face stiff competition from the likes of Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal, while it would be remiss to completely discount Roger Federer, given his extraordinary record at SW 19.

On the women’s side of the draw, Serena Williams seems certain to be the one to beat, not least because she has tasted success her in the past and her power game is perfectly suited to playing on the green grass of Wimbledon. However, Russian Maria Sharapova, who boasts similarly powerful ground strokes, cannot be discounted either.

Whoever wins the event, it promises to provide lots of entertainment and as ever, will be remembered as one of the best occasions of the sporting summer.

British Summertime Hyde Park

This is one of the must-see music events of the coming summer and if you’re looking to enjoy some fun in the sun, you’d be well advised to head to the British Summertime event in Hyde Park, which is a top destination for such an amazing event.

Some of the biggest names from the music industry are scheduled to perform, including Black Sabbath, The Libertines and McBusted, among many others. And the eclectic range of acts means that regardless of your taste in music, you’re sure to find something to keep you entertained.

Notting Hill Carnival

Not only is this one of the biggest events in the capital, but Notting Hill also represents the biggest street festival in Europe.

The event features steel bands, Calypso music and food stalls that offer some delicious Caribbean food that is sure to tickle your taste buds. This event really is an amazing fusion of colour and sound, and if you’ve never had the opportunity to enjoy it before, you simply cannot pass up the chance.
