Now that autumn has set in and the nights are getting darker you need things to look forward to. It’s a while yet until Christmas, so it’s worth planning to do something special for Guy Fawkes Night. Fortunately, that doesn’t have to mean setting off fireworks yourself, as Kent has a whole host of displays you can join.
Get a group together and hire a coach to one of the following locations to enjoy fireworks, a bonfire and some delicious food. Don’t forget to wrap up warm to get involved with celebrating a failed attempt at blowing up the Houses of Parliament.
Kent Gliding Club - October 27th
Entry into Kent Gliding Club for its annual fireworks and Halloween celebration includes a hot German sausage. Doors open at 6pm, so you can get there early to soak up the atmosphere and get a drink from the bar, before the display begins at 7.15pm. Tickets are priced at £12 for adults and £6 per child.
Dobbies Garden Centre in Ashford - November 2nd
Make an evening of it at Dobbies Garden Centre, which will be hosting a fireworks, shopping and street food festival this year. Those wishing to get involved in the whole event from 5.30pm can do so for £9.95 full price and £6.95 for younger participants. If you’d prefer to just go for the fireworks, entry is £5 for adults and £3 for kids, with the show beginning at 7.30pm.
Ashford Rugby Club - November 3rd
For a good old-fashioned Guy Fawkes celebration, head to the rugby club, where events begin at 5pm, the bonfire will be lit at 7pm and the sky will come alive with colours from 7.30pm. Make sure you don’t have your tea before you leave, as there will be plenty of food stalls to pick from. Advance tickets are £6 for adults and £3 for children, although these will go up to £8 and £4 if purchased on the door.
The Spitfire Ground in Canterbury - November 5th
It is nice to attend a Bonfire Night event on November 5th and the Spitfire Ground is a great occasion, especially if you’re music lovers. Be serenaded by the Old Town Souls and let the kids loose on the funfair rides, before the fireworks begin. Family tickets are the best value and cost £20 in advance or £25 on the gate.
