Get your skates on in Kent this winter

Every winter, a number of ice rinks pop up around Kent, offering a wonderful opportunity to introduce the kids to a new type of exercise that they’ll find fun and exciting. If there isn’t one quite on your doorstep, you can hire a coach to take you and family friends to the closest rink for a great day out with the kids.

Winter Wonderland, The Friars, Aylesford - November 30th to December 31st (excluding 25th)

No Winter Wonderland would be complete without an ice rink and the event at The Friars is no exception. As well as skating to your heart’s content, you and your loved ones will also be able to enjoy a whole host of funfair rides and some delicious food and drinks from the stalls. Make it even more special by booking tickets for the Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs panto at the same venue.

Skatings costs £10 for adults, £8 for under-16s and £5 for under-fives.

Calverley Grounds, Tunbridge Wells - until January 1st

The rink at Calverley Grounds is now open and will be for the rest of 2018, with the site’s amphitheatre decorated in pretty fairy lights to add to the atmosphere. After getting your fill of skating, you can refuel with the festive food and drinks on sale, enjoy the music and even get some inspiration for a bit of Christmas shopping.

Tickets are priced at £14.50 for adults and £9.75 for children.

Eastwell Manor, Ashford - until January 2nd

Skating at Eastwell Manor begins today (November 23rd) and continues a long tradition of taking to the ice at the house. Records show that Queen Victoria herself used to skate on the lake in the winters when it froze over, meaning you’ll be following in the skate tracks of royalty. The refreshments follow a traditional theme too, with roasted chestnuts, mince pies, mulled wine and hot chocolate all available.

Entry costs £14.50 for adults and £9.50 for under-12s.

Dover Marine Station, Cruise Terminal One, Port of Dover - December 2nd to January 1st

An indoor skating rink is part of the White Cliffs Christmas ICE-travaganza at the Port of Dover, which has plenty to offer for a fun day out. As well as the central focus being the rink, skaters will also be able to see Santa Claus in his grotto, enjoy beer from Breakwater Brewery, eat festive favourites and try out some of the rides in the beautifully decorated surroundings.

Get tickets for £10 per adult, £8 per child or a family ticket for £30.
