When it comes to seeing in the New Year in London there are seemingly infinite options to choose from. The highlight of the capital’s entertainment, however, is the Mayor of London’s fireworks display. The only problem is that this year’s display has now sold out, but that does not mean you won’t be able to see the spectacle; you just need to go about it in a different way.
Thames cruise with City Cruises or The Monsoon Clipper
The first option is to book a dinner cruise, where you will be perfectly located on the Thames to take in the fireworks. City Cruises and The Monsoon Clipper offer excellent New Year’s Eve options, which include lots of food, drinks and a variety of entertainment, making for a well-rounded evening. You’ll also be able to enjoy the warmth of the boat instead of standing out in the cold to watch the fireworks.
New Year’s Eve Spectacular, Southbank Centre
Royal Festival Hall at the Southbank Centre will be transformed into different decades for New Year’s Eve, offering themed entertainment. There will be five floors of nightclubs, seven bars, two acts performing live, 12 DJs and eight variations of dance to learn. If you can drag yourself away from all of these attractions, then you’ll also find yourself well-placed to enjoy the fireworks at midnight, before continuing to party until 2.30am.
New Year’s Eve Party at London Sky Bar, Millbank Tower
Champagne reception, big band and uninterrupted views of the fireworks - it doesn’t get much better than that. London’s Sky Bar will also be home to live cooking stations, where chefs will be serving up freshly cooked dishes featuring flavours from all over the world for guests to enjoy. Music will be provided by a selection of DJs, taking turns to deliver the tunes throughout the evening.
Dinner with a view at a Thameside restaurant
Sometime you don’t need all the bells and whistles of a New Year’s Eve event, just a nice dinner with your loved ones. If that sounds like you, then book your meal at a restaurant with a great view of the Thames. These include OXO Tower, Aqua Shard and The Rooftop St James.
Book your transport in advance
However you decide to party, be sure to have a coach booked to take you back home or to your accommodation well in advance. This will ensure that you and all your friends and family can enjoy the evening knowing you won’t have to struggle with transport later.
