A Guide To Festival Coach Hire

Coach hire for festivals, girl sitting on shoulders

Music festivals have become an integral part of British Summer. Since the 1960’s, the UK has been holding mainstream music festivals all over the country.

The first major music festival was The Isle of Wight Festival, followed closely by Glastonbury, the world’s largest Greenfield festival. Nowadays, there are music festivals held for every type of music genre; Dance and Electronic, Pop, Jazz, Rock, Metal and more. With hundreds of thousands of people heading to music festivals each summer, coach hire for festivals is one of the most popular modes of transport.

Why hire a coach for festivals

Most major festivals charge extortionate car parking fees in addition to your festival tickets. To help keep costs low coach hire has proved to be a fantastic alternative. Not only do you save money on parking fees but you get to travel with all your friends. You’ll arrive on time and altogether ready to get the party started. Coaches have plenty of space and legroom, so there’s no need to worry about being crammed in a car with your wellies, tents and backpacks.
Hiring a coach has an added element of safety. You’ll have a dedicated driver who will make sure you get there and back safely. No more designated drivers and with all the space on-board you can catch up on some sleep because let’s be honest, no one sleeps at a festival. Your driver can drop you off and pick you up when the festival ends or they can stay in the area, it’s up to you.

Arranging festival transport for your customers?

We’ve been working with festival organisers and ticket providers for many years. We understand the pressures of co-ordinating coach hire for festivals, that’s why you can focus on the main event and leave the transport to us.
When arranging coach hire in mass we recommend contacting our contracts team at least 6 months in advance. No matter the scale of your events, we will deliver. Our team are highly experienced in festival coach hire and have arranged hundreds of movements for single events. Most clients work with us by offering their festival-goers a ticket and transport combination.
We have the unique ability to offer any vehicle, anytime, anywhere in the UK via our sub-brand KF Connections. KF Connections have the UK’s leading and largest network of fully audited operators, with over 900 operators across the country. If you’re looking to offer coach hire to your festival, feel free to contact the KF Connections team on 08456 434 123 or head over to the KF Connections website here

Our experience in mass passenger transport

Major music festivals such as Glastonbury and Reading & Leeds are subject to stringent planning controls by their local authorities. Restrictions are put in place to reduce local traffic disruption and pollution. In order to maximise ticket allocation, organisers had to ensure a certain proportion of visitors purchased a combined entrance and transport ticket. This is where we came to help.
Over 10 years ago, we had a successful trial in providing coach hire to the Paddock Wood Hop Farm festival through See Tickets. Since then, See Tickets decided to employ our services to supply coaches for the Glastonbury, V Festival and Reading & Leeds entrance and transport combined tickets.
For Glastonbury Festival, arrangements for coach hire began in November ready for the event in June. This year almost 40,000 passengers will be transported by over 800 coaches. The coaches are sourced for the festival nationwide via the KF Connections’ vast operator network.

“We required specialist help in organising coach transfers for 1000s of people attending festivals from across the country. Connections not only sourced vehicles competitively but helped to manage the on-site requirements as well.” – Mark Kristensen Bagguley, Logistics, See Tickets.

Arranging The Perfect Race Day Out

Coach hire for race days
Horse racing is one of the longest established sports in the UK and with some of the world’s most iconic racecourses, it’s no surprise we’ve produced some of the greatest jockeys of all time.
Race days are more than just placing a few bets on a horse. Attending a race day is one of the biggest social events in most people’s calendars. It’s an excuse to get dressed up, enjoy a few drinks in the sunshine and soak up the atmosphere with a group of your closest friends.
With the likes of Royal Ascot, Epsom Derby, Glorious Goodwood, Cheltenham Festival and The Grand National taking over the start of Summer, it’s time to start looking for your perfect transport partner so you can travel in luxury and arrive in style to the next event.

Why hire a coach for race days

Horse racing is one of the biggest events people book coach hire for. It is also the most cost-effective and eco-friendly form of group transport.
Your guests will be able to enjoy the extra space and legroom on-board. So, there’s no need to worry about sitting in a cramped car or getting your outfit dirty on public transport. Your guests will get to their destination feeling refreshed and ready to go!
Coach hire for groups makes perfect sense. Arranging a day out to the races with all your friends can often be a logistical nightmare. With everyone coming from different parts of the country, meeting times are often missed due to traffic and parking issues. When travelling by coach, there can be multiple pickups so you and your friends arrive altogether. Every coach hire booking is carefully planned by our in-house Operations team and your travel consultant to ensure the best route is taken.
The atmosphere doesn’t have to begin and end at the event, get the party started as soon as you and your friends step on-board.

The perfect race day transport

Our most popular coach hire solution for race days has to be our luxurious VIP coaches. They seat up to 35 passengers with a choice of either a full kitchen or star-lit rear lounge to keep your guests entertained. All our VIP coaches come equipped with the following as standard; charging stations, reclining leather seats, Wi-Fi, entertainment systems, hot drinks facilities, refrigerator and toilet.
You can make your day at the races a truly unforgettable experience by treating your guests to some on-board catering. Continental breakfasts, afternoon tea, champagne and canapés, the choice is yours but we guarantee this will be a huge hit with your guests. We have a selection of menus available for you to choose from, and if you can’t find anything that takes your fancy just speak to your account manager and they’ll be able to order anything you desire.
We can even supply an on-board hostess service to make sure you and your guests sit back, relax and enjoy the experience.

Attending a race day for a corporate event

Horse racing event with ladies

A corporate event is the perfect way to entertain prospective clients, it’s even better if you step outside the norm. Directors and company owners have long opted for a race day event to help secure new business and retain clientele.
Many racecourses such as Ascot, Aintree and Goodwood offer corporate hospitality packages, perfect for privately entertaining your guests. You can build long-standing business relationships whilst cheering on your favourite jockey from the privacy of your own box.
Enhance your corporate race day with one of our VIP coaches and you’ve got the perfect pairing to secure a business deal.

The First To Pass Our Driver Training Academy

We would like to say a huge congratulations to Steven Fielding on passing his PCV test. Steven was the first recruit for the newly launched Driver Training Academy and we are so proud to welcome him to The Kings Ferry family.

Steven Fielding Passing PCV Test with Certificate at Driver Training Academy with Lee Marriott

“I would like to congratulate Steven on passing his test and hope you continue to learn from our great driving team who have so much experience to pass on.”, says Simon Le Mar, Group Training and Development Manager.

The Training

Steven joined us four weeks ago after hearing about our new Driver Training Academy and was the first to enrol in the programme.

“Steven was a pleasure to train. He took instructions well and took on board all the feedback he was given and implemented it straight away within his driving”, explains Lee Marriott, Steven’s Trainer.

Steven’s journey so far has taken him around the beautiful Kentish countryside and along the coast in our dedicated training coach. After four weeks of intense coach training and hard work, Steven passed his PCV test!
Now that Steven has his PCV licence, he will now undergo the induction course with the training team. After this he will embark on a three week training course with a mentor where he will learn his new job role. Steven will begin his mentor training with our commuter services and London pickups. He will then go onto private hires with our most experienced drivers to enable him the driving time needed and learn that side of the business.

The Academy’s First Pass

The Kings Ferry are incredibly proud to welcome Steven to the company, he has been an excellent recruit and his hard work and dedication is the reason why we launched the Driver Training Academy.

"I am very proud of the first pass we have received. The team have worked very hard from start to finish with getting the academy up and running, from Debbie Mann on the recruitment side to myself, Lee Miller and Lee Marriott getting systems in place for all the modules.

I would like to thank my team for their continuous hard work within training and the new academy.” , exclaims Simon.

We would also like to say a huge thanks to the training team and in particular, Group Training and Development Manager, Simon Le Mar for all your dedication and hard work that went into creating the Driver Training Academy. We are incredibly proud of all those involved and would like to say congratulations on your first pass of the Academy!

Coaching The Saracens To Victory!

Rugby Ball

Over the weekend we coached the Saracens Rugby Club to the Champion Cup Final where they were victorious!  The Saracens took back the cup from last years’ Irish champions, Leinster Rugby, with a 20-10 win. In the past four seasons, the Saracens have won the Champion Cup an impressive three times.

Coaching The Saracens to Championship

We had the honour of transporting The Saracens, along with their families to Newcastle to win the Champion Cup against Leinster Rugby. As well as transporting the players and their families, we also provided transport for the club partners and VIP’s. All of whom enjoyed their journey on board Executive coaches.

Working alongside Thomas Cook Sport, who arranged the sports coach hire with us, we were able to provide transport to the game in Newcastle via our sub-brand Kings Ferry Connections.

How We Got Them There

Kings Ferry Connections have access to the UK’s largest network of operators. This gives us the unique ability to offer any vehicle, anytime, anywhere. Thanks to the relationships with our operators we were able to provide an extension of our service and quality to The Saracens. For more information on Kings Ferry Connections, visit the website

We specialise in providing coach hire for sports teams and supporter travel. We’ve been doing so for the past 50 years and we’re the leading coach hire operator in the UK.

What’s Next For The Sarries

While The Saracens have won the Champion Cup Final and are the Champions of Europe, the season isn’t over yet. Earlier in the year they lost out on the Premiership Cup to Northampton Saints but still have the play-offs coming up. We wish them all the luck with their play-off game, fingers crossed!

If you’re looking for sports coach hire, whether that’s for a team of players or a group of supporters, we will make sure everyone is ready on and off the field. For coach hire contact our team on 01634 377 577 or get a quick quote below.
